SRC Seminar with Abraham Marte @ PSABJJ
Posted on December 07 2016
November was a huge month! Not only did Abraham Marte show up at SRC 47 to roll, but we also did a seminar with him! Our Secrets of The Closed Guard seminar was a fun jiu-jitsu event, including students from all across New York, and its various schools. It was great to see so many practitioners get together and train. Pit TKO came out and had free all-natural deodorant samples for everyone in attendance, so the dojo smelled great! I personally put on the deodorant before the seminar, and smelled like magic for the whole event. Definitely check them out!
Abraham Marte is an awesome instructor. When he's showing a technique, you can see his love for the art, and his passion for sharing that love, and his knowledge. It was our pleasure to have him for a seminar, and a big shout out to the Park Slope Academy of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for hosting us.
Marte showed some killer techniques from the closed guard, and actually ended up teaching an extra hour. He's very energizing, and everyone was smiling, laughing, and having a good time. It was great to see that he had a clear plan for all of the techniques that he was showing. They were all interconnected, they all flowed together. You could use the first to setup the second, and if the second didn't work you could go to the third, and if that didn't work, you were in the perfect setup to hit the first move again.
Countless people came to us afterwards telling us how much they enjoyed the seminar, and how he changed the way they looked at the closed guard. Even now a few weeks after the event, some of the SRC Ambassadors are still using the techniques that they learned when they're rolling.
Abraham just wrapped up filming a second DVD on his closed guard techniques, so be on the lookout for that!
Up next for Secret Roll Club is SRC 48, our last secret open mat of the year in Bushwick, Brooklyn. We're very excited for it, as it is going to be one of the biggest events we've done. We'd love to see you there.
As always, thank you to everyone who showed up to train and support, and make it a fantastic event. We hope you guys are ready for SRC in 2017, we've got a bunch of new events and new locations.
See you on the mats!
