PJ started grappling in 1994 with Pedro Sauer, when Pedro had one small school on State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.

After receiving his blue belt under Sauer, Pj then spent 9 months training with Cassio Werneck in Brasil.

Later in NYC, he was awarded his purple belt from the illustrious John Danaher, and then got his brown belt while living and training in Sao Paulo under Junior Elado.

PJ has travelled for most of his adult life, and has trained with many of the jiu-jitsu greats.

He has spent time under the tutelage of Renzo Gracie, Jeff Ruth (Lloyd Irvin), “Sambo Steve” Koepfer, Luis Mello (Ryan Gracie), Jorge Gurgel, and Griffin Reynaud (Walt Bayless Combat JJ).

His background in grappling, love of collaboration with others in the jiu-jitsu community, and experiences of rolling all over the world make him the ideal fit for our Chief Ambassador within the Secret Roll Club’s Ambassador Program.

When not spreading the word of grappling, he spends time as a single father raising his beautiful 11 year old daughter and supporting NYC public schools and children in various capacities.
